Do you attempt to avoid the pain meds as much as possible

I don't know if it is only me, but I can't stand the fog pain meds put you in... I know there are times, you just need to get some shut eye.. but most of the time I would rather be in some pain than a complete zombie... Agree or disagree? let me know your thoughts..

I want to take meds as little as possible. Otherwise, I'm in this cloudy depressed mood all the time.

Having spent 2 months recovering from cracked ribs and broken collar bone I understand what you are going through.
Sleep came in small spurts due to pain, muscle cramping etc. I avoided some of the meds the doctor gave me. Tylenol 3's?? What the hell was the doc thinking? That stuff can constipate you beyond belief and with my injuries it was not going to be fun.
I stuck with some over the counter meds, some natural pain killers and tried to take the pain as much as I could before taking pain killers. My thoughts on this are you are less likely to re-injure or aggravate an injury if you are aware of your limited movement.
Don't let the depression get to you. Talk to others, your doctor etc. Depression can be worse than the injury. You are alive and that is something to NOT be depressed about.
